Paria and the Vermilion Cliffs.
Welcome to the most famous slot canyon in the Southwest, Antelope Canyon! If you’re closterphobic, then Lower Antelope Canyon is definitely not your cup-of-tea as the British would say. This photo illustrates how easily one can just walk by the canyon and never know of its existence. Yes, that slot in the rock is the opening.
WARNING: Even though it's not raining directly overhead, flash floods occur with violent force (this is how the slot canyons are formed) and therefore great care in knowing the weather forecast is mandatory prior to entering ANY slot canyon. This was horribly illustrated on August 12, 1997 when a flash flood, from a storm many miles away, caught twelve people inside the Lower Antelope slot killing all but one of them.
